A funny hey bill from Billl James online.

I have another question about By Saam's play-by-play.  In 1975 Sports Illustrated wrote that it was Saam's last year as a broadcaster.  They recalled a story about Saam calling a play where an outfielder chases a deep fly:  "He's at the wall … His head hits the wall … It bounces off …  He throws it back to the infield  …"  Any truth to this?  Did you ever hear about it?

That was actually Jerry Coleman, San Diego.   The quote is inexact, but Coleman said something like "He hits his head against the wall, and. ..It comes OFF the wall, and it's rolling back toward the infield.  Oh, my; this is a terrible thing for the Padres."
